Travel Advice from Colleagues

Given the dynamic and rapidly shifting nature of global travel in the current political moment, we have set up a wiki-like page (this one) to aggregate travel advice from NAVSA colleagues and other sources that might aid those intending to travel to DC this fall. We will break up the contents by region; if you have advice to share, please email it to navsa@georgetown.edu and we’ll get it posted to the page. Thank you for your help in this collective endeavor.

GENERAL TRAVEL ADVICE

CANADA

Ahead of our Washington NAVSA, it occurs to me that our Canadian delegates should consider flying to Washington via YYZ or YVR or other Canadian airports that have US Customs pre-clearance . As you know, once you are through pre-clearance at these Canadian airports, you don’t have to clear customs again when landing in the States. It also means that if a passenger has a problem or is denied entry, they should be able to simply go back home, rather than face some nightmare scenario in a US airport.
